Create your first Lilypond music score

Open Lied
Into an empty file, click on Templates->New quick score.
Save file as try.ly
Open a shell and type: lilypond ./try.ly (predefined version of Lilypond is 2.10.3),

The output will be a music score in pdf format, for a single instrument. You can repeat this operation using the other templates available in this menu (solo piano, quartet, quartet and piano, sextet, sextet and piano). Watch some examples about the usage of Lied clicking on the links below

Adding groups and instruments

Once you created your first Lilypond music score as indicated above, you can add a new group of instruments or a new single instrument.

To add a new instrument, position the cursor at the line below the marker:

and click on Templates->insert in score->new instr. You can also use this procedure to add a piano stave.
To add a new group, position the cursor at the line below the marker:

 %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% END GROUP %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% 
```
and click on Templates->insert in score->new group.
